Esan Okpa

About Us

The need for Esan unity cannot be overemphasized. For quite some time, Esan unity has been the focus of some well-meaning and prominent personalities of Esan extraction. Indeed, the lack of unity among our people has been identified, and quite rightly so, as the major- contributing factor to the lack of vision and the building of long-term strategy required to emancipate our people from the vicious cycle of poverty, political instability, lack of enabling environment, atrophied development of our land. Consequently, INAUGURAL MEETING OF ESAN OKPA held on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at the residence of Professor Gabriel Oteze, Benin-city. It is a socio-cultural organization devoid of political and/or religious activism or partisanship; but in favour of new ideas and methods aimed at bringing about social and economic changes that can lead to positive development in Esanland.

Our Identity

We must always remember that Esan-Okpa is not just another association we belong to, but an INITIATIVE that projects our IDENTITY. Our IDENTITY is a priceless inheritance from the great men and women that founded Esanland.
I tell you who we are: we are the children of the descendants of these great warriors who migrated to Esanland conquering the mystical and physical challenges on their way through the forest of the hills of Esanland! They must have done everything possible to create this IDENTITY as we can imagine.
We, their children, even when we have had to migrate to every corners of the earth in search of Golden Fleece, have not forgotten to create Esan-Okpa INITIATIVE, just like our ancestors did create Esanland, to give more impetus to our so cherished Esan IDENTITY.
We do not want to lose this identity for any reason, whatsoever!
